Greetings and Salutations,
Join us this Thursday as we travel to a Bay View classic, one that can be considered a biker bar, a musical venue, and just plain fun: Frank’s Power Plant! This funky corner bar is known for having awesome theme nights and great local musical acts. I know that I will definitely be there; any time you can offer me the refreshing taste of Blatz in a can I won’t be far behind… so why not come have a blast with Blatz!
The strange thing here, of course, is the name of this bar: Frank’s Power Plant. I am happy to say, that after some hard investigating I found the answer to this mysterious name and it is now clear that this establishment is vital to Milwaukee.
We have all been there: a terrible thunderstorm, crazy wind, bright lightning, monstrous thunder and suddenly, your entire life takes a trip back to the 17th century as your power goes out. This is the moment you feel most vulnerable and realize just how important electricity really is. You start worrying about your precious items in the refrigerator slowly coming back to room temperature, especially your most prized possession: ice cold Old Milwaukee.
Now imagine all the amazing breweries in Milwaukee coming to a halt due to a power outage – the world as we know it would end. Enter Frank, a man who saw this risk and took it into his own hands to ensure something like this would never happen. You see Frank’s Power Plant is not only a fantastic bar, it’s also a backup power facility for all the major breweries. You are probably wondering how he does it, how did Frank come up with the purrrfect plan?
It all started a few years back on a cold, December night when Frank was in his alley taking out the garbage. He noticed an entire family of cats suffering in the harsh Milwaukee winter storm. He decided to take them into the warmth of his home and pondered about all the other wild cats outside. The cat family looked thirsty but Frank had no milk to give, just some Old Milwaukee, so he grabbed a bowl and poured some in. The cats took one drink and were immediately filled with energy – they ran to Frank’s treadmill and started to run.
Suddenly the house went black. In the midst of the storm the power went out. With a stroke of genius, Frank hooked up his treadmill to the main power line of his house. He gave the cats some more Old Mil and suddenly his entire house lit up with power as the cats continued to run. This gave Frank the idea of gathering up all the wild cats in Milwaukee and using them to power something bigger, something better. Frank’s Power Plant was born and now when the power goes out, the entire second floor becomes an Old Milwaukee-fueled feline generator for all the major breweries in Milwaukee. Next time you see Frank, buy him a cold one, not only is he a friend to all cats but a local hero as well.
Cheers my Friends!
Your Co-Founder and Friend,
Jeremy Blandin
