What do you get when you take two brothers, a whole lot of determination, some creativity, and a strong fascination for beer? The answer is our destination this Thursday: Eagle Park Brewing. They recently left their Bay View digs and took over the space of the now-closed Like Minds Brewing. Eagle Park looks to impress with an ambitious and intriguing line-up of beers.
Hungry? They have you covered on that end, offering a variety of food ranging from wings to my personal favorite: the Chorizo Corn Dog. All in all, Eagle Park has just about everything you need to make this Welcome to Thursday destination one to remember. I for one will be looking forward to seeing all of you there this Thursday!!
The Eagle Park website says their name came from combining the street names of the intersection they grew up on, but after spending the past 4 days in Joshua Tree discovering the meaning of everything, I can now tell you the real story of this “Eagle Park”.
I found myself gazing into an endless night sky atop a large curving rock that had a very particular shape of Nessie, the Loch Ness Monster. I had come to Joshua Tree in search of answers to a question that had been slowly growing in me the past year. A question that riddled me and haunted my very core: was Old Milwaukee truly everything in the world of beer? I had quarreled with this thought for many months, and knew that I needed to be one with the cosmos in order to truly understand.
As I stared up into the abyss I found myself feeling heavier and heavier and I started to sink into the very rock I was laying on. I was not scared, I almost felt a sense of calmness, like the sound of a distant train in the middle of the night. My mind went black and suddenly my eyes were opened to a griffin standing atop a cliff clutching a can of Old Milwaukee. I am still not sure how I found the courage to speak to the griffin, but I did. I asked the griffin, “With all of your knowledge and wisdom, tell me….tell me the answers that I seek”. The griffin looked upon me and without any hesitation, grabbed me and started to fly. I knew not where we were going, but I knew that where ever it was, there would be answers.
As we flew deeper into the cosmos, the griffin suddenly started speaking to me, not with his voice, but with his mind. “You see Jeremy, there is a door for every possibility, and with every door comes a different outcome. It is within these doors that all beers live equally for the authentic purpose of the greater good”. Although they initially looked like massive stars, I saw different types of beers flying across the sky. Hamm’s, Blatz, Schlitz; they were all there. I asked the griffin of our location and he replied, “This is Eagle Park, the beer haven.” We flew a little further and I told the griffin that it all made sense to me now, there were so many more beers out there to try, a million more stories to uncover. This didn’t mean that Old Mil was no longer the greatest; no, it simply meant that I had more beer to discover and Old Mil would always be here when I needed it to be.
Suddenly the griffin dropped me – as I fell, I woke up at home with the TV on, playing a special on mythical creatures including Nessie the Loch Ness Monster and the majestic half eagle/half lion, griffin. The rest is history.
Cheers my friends!
