“C’est alors que je me suis rendu compte, lorsque j’ai bu mon premier verre de Old Milwaukee, j’ai finalement compris ce qu’était l’amour.” – Louie
Greetings and Salutations my Friends,
This week we are bound for greatness as we explore the oh-so-popular Bar Louie. Classified as a Lounge/Restaurant/Bar, this establishment has actually become quite the franchise with many different locations throughout the country. With over 40 beers on tap and some pretty spectacular food to go along with it, there is plenty of evidence and reasoning to back up its growth. There’s a constant rotation of amazing social events and specials, and Bar Louie stays active throughout the year – when you are on Water Street in Milwaukee you need that. The real test, of course, is coming this Thursday when the WTT crew takes over!
Now we have all heard of King Louie XIV of France, known as the king of kings in France. He reigned for 72 years and 110 days, which is longer than any other known European Sovereign. He is known for transforming the monarchy and bringing about a fresh, new age of art and literature. What many people don’t know is that he had a lesser known great-nephew Louie “the bar hermit” or “Bar Louie” for short. He was a young French Cryptographer who was known throughout the country for never owning a home; he lived in and out of bars for weeks on end without ever stepping outside. He would drink them out of everything they had and move on to the next establishment.
In many ways, Bar Louie was searching. You see, Louie traveled to the United States of America to discover all he could, and it was here where he stumbled into the city of Milwaukee and found himself staring down a fresh pint of Old Milwaukee. The second his lips met this magical brew, he knew his life would not be the same. He came back to France a changed man; the art and music that used to fill his life with joy were now just whispers of the joy that Old Milwaukee brought him. So, the decision was made and Louie left France for good to live out the rest of his days in Milwaukee. It was here that he decided to open an establishment that would bring the same joy he found in a glass of Old Milwaukee. From this came the self-titled bar you and I know and will be traveling to this Thursday. Let’s lift one for Louie!
Cheers my friends!
